Once a holiday home and owned by the best loved children's author Beatrix Potter, Lindeth Howe is a tranquil place to relax and enjoy yourself, with breathtaking views to admire from the cozy lounges and sun terrace. This unique Country House hotel offers superb accommodation and fantastic 2 AA Rosette dining in a great setting. Lindeth Howe sits in the heart of the National Park overlooking the largest lake in the country, Lake Windermere with the Cumbrian Fells beyond. It is located just outside the lakeside village of Bowness-on-Windermere which is largely regarded as the heart of the Lake District. Here you can enjoy the many attractions and shops or take a cruise across the Lake to areas such as Hawkshead, Ambleside and Lakeside.
Lindeth Howe was built as a Summer Holiday home for a wealthy mill owner in 1879 and was situated on a 28 acre estate. After the death of her father in 1915, Beatrix Potter bought the house for her mother Helen to live in. Today it stands as a classic Lakeland Country House set in 6 acres of its own private garden.
