The town was established April 17 1854 and named after these rock walls. While originally part of Kaufman County in 1873 Rockwall County was formed with Rockwall being the county seat. With the city's fortunate location on Lake Ray Hubbard Hampton Inn Dallas Rockwall Texas guests enjoy an abundance of water sports and recreation. For golf enthusiasts Rockwall has four golf courses two being championship golf courses that have ranges that challenges the skill of all golfers. The city is home to the Dallas Diesel a football team in the North American Football League. Zac Leatherwood is the well-known quarterback in their county that led them to their victory. The city's new Harbor District is within walking distance of the Hampton Inn Dallas Rockwall Texas hotel. The Harbor provides a new 12 screen cinema civic and convention center shops restaurants and offices. The site includes public boardwalks fountains plazas pedestrian walkways and other amenities.
