Turkish Airlines was founded in 1933. It is the national flag carrier of Turkey and is headquartered in Istanbul on the grounds of its main hub at Ataturk International Airport. Turkish Airlines is one of the major airlines all over the world and in Europe in particular. By the end of 2016, it had carried 62 million passengers. It is a member of Star Alliance, a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). It has about 23,989 employees. Today, Turkish Airlines operates flights to 299 destinations spread over 120 countries, including 49 domestic destinations, and 250 international destinations. Turkish Airlines fleet consists of 337 modern aircrafts. The average age for an aircraft in service is 7 years.
